IATA: Data Literacy

Data literacy for the International Air Transport Association

Initial situation

The International Air Transport Association IATA is the international umbrella organization for airlines and represents over 80% of international air traffic with over 340 members. 1300 employees in 54 countries work for the organization.

As a globally active organization, IATA has a high volume of data. With its “Data Solutions”, it distributes a wide range of statistical and market data relating to air traffic, the aviation industry, tourism and transportation. For this reason, ITATA wants to specifically promote the data skills of its employees in their day-to-day work. Regular, practical courses run by proven data experts from Novalytica are designed to equip the organization’s various teams with the necessary skills to better understand data, work with data and make data-driven decisions.

Goals

  • Conducting regular workshops on data literacy in small groups of 5-8 people
  • Providing a basic understanding of data, data formats and data structures
  • Raising awareness of issues relating to the origin and quality of data
  • Teaching confidence in reading, interpreting and communicating data
  • Practical exercises for direct application and consolidation of theory
  • Practical examples that the participants know from their everyday work

Cooperation

"Data literacy skills are an essential key competence for all employees at IATA. Novalytica's practical workshops train our employees in the skills they need to read, understand and communicate data. We offer the courses at regular intervals and they are always fully booked within a short space of time."

Raquel Montejo Sagardia, Assistant Director Learning & Development
